Respect the Honor Code: Do your own work. This means citing appropriately in all assignments, “even” blog posts. All work must be cited properly or you will receive a 0 on the assignment and I will file an honor violation accusation. Plagiarism is not acceptable. Plagiarism includes copying any text from another source (5 consecutive words require quotation marks and a citation); rewriting text from another source without adding your own ideas or interpretation; using ideas from another source without citation. Don’t do it.
Participate in class: Come to class prepared. Do the reading before class and be ready to ask questions and contribute to discussions. Be respectful of other students (and the instructor) during discussions. Do not use laptops, cell phones, tablets or other technologies except in ways that are directly related to class. If you miss class, it is your responsibility to find out what you missed and there is no way to make up in class assignments, activities, or discussions.
Complete Assignments on Time: Late assignments will be penalized. The penalty is usually 10% per day.
Students with Disabilities: The Office of Disability Resources has been designated by the University of Mary Washington as the primary office to guide, counsel, and assist students with disabilities. If you require accommodations for this class, make an appointment with me to discuss your approved accommodation needs and bring your accommodation letter with you to the appointment. I will hold any information you share with me in strictest confidence unless you give me permission to do otherwise. If you have not made contact with the Office of Disability Resources and have reasonable accommodation needs, (note taking assistance, extended time for tests, etc.), I will be happy to refer you. The office will require appropriate documentation of disability.
