I have taught many classes where people talked but I have never taught a class where everyone talked. Participation in my classes, classes which are usually about power and inequality, reflect the power dynamics of our society. This semester my goal is 100% participation. I will use these pedagogical tools, all from Cathy Davidson, who got them all from other people and learned one from Samuel R Delany, one of my favorite authors:
